How much drinking water for a wedding or event? A Kerala planning guide
Short answer
Plan about 0.5 litre of drinking water per guest for a short event of 2–3 hours, and up to 1 litre per guest for a full day or a hot afternoon. A wedding reception for 300 guests needs roughly 8–15 jars of 19 litres and at least 3 dispensers so queues stay short.

Tips for the day
- Place dispensers away from the food queue so people are not waiting twice.
- Keep spare full jars behind the counter, not in the sun.
- One dispenser serves about 60–100 guests comfortably at a time.
- Use paper or steel cups and put a bin next to each dispenser.
- Ask for the empties and dispensers to be collected after the event so you are not left managing them.
