Water jar deposit explained: what it is, why you pay it and how you get it back
A jar deposit is a one-time, refundable amount you pay for each returnable jar you hold — the jar belongs to the supplier, and the deposit covers it while it is with you. At Refillr the deposit is ₹200 to ₹400 per jar depending on your plan, and it is refunded in full when you return the jars in good condition.
Why there is a deposit
Good 20L jars are expensive to make and are reused many times. Each time your water is delivered, the full jar replaces your empty one, so you always hold the same number of jars. The deposit covers those jars while they are in your home and is returned when you stop.
Refillr deposits by plan
| Plan | Deposit per jar |
|---|---|
| One-time order | ₹400 |
| Solo Plan (10 refills) | ₹400 |
| Home Plan (30 refills) | ₹300 |
| Reserve Plan (60 refills) | ₹200 |
How many jars will you hold?
Most homes hold one or two jars: one on the dispenser and, for larger families, a spare. Offices and shops hold more depending on daily use. You pay the deposit only once for each jar, not with every refill.
Getting the deposit back
- Tell us you want to stop, on WhatsApp or from your account.
- We collect the jars on your area’s delivery day.
- Jars are checked for damage — normal wear is fine.
- The deposit is refunded for every jar returned in good condition.
A jar that is cracked, burnt, painted or missing cannot be reused, so its deposit is not refundable. Keep jars indoors and use them only for drinking water.
Questions to ask any supplier
- Is the deposit refundable, and is that written on the receipt or invoice?
- How much is it per jar, and how many jars will I hold?
- How and when is it refunded?
Prepaid refills that never expire. Refundable jar deposit. No lock-in.
